Install Java
The mxj and mxj~ objects require that a version of the Java Development Kit be installed on your system and accessible to the objects.
Mac (Intel):
For OS X 32bit Max 7 users, Java Support is limited to the Java 6 JDK. Apple still appears to permit the Java 6 JDK under Sierra, but this support may be removed at any time by Apple.
- If you later need to remove it, you can run the following
command in the Terminal Application:
sudo rm -rf /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_91.jdk
Download Apple's Legacy Java 1.6
- To uninstall, follow these instructions.
Mac (Arm64 / M1)
An Arm64 (Apple M1) native version of the JDK can be installed from Azul:
